More about the Burnside Area:
The Burnside Area has been the ideal location for new businesses
desiring convenient access to both Interstate 69 and U.S. 12, Branch
County's most important "hub" routes, yet without the high visibility
frontage that would command high rent or property taxes. Two primary
kinds of businesses can be found here. First, service organizations
such as Michigan Works, Employment Resources, and the H & C
Burnside Senior Center for which this
area gets its name. (The Burnside Center is very well known as many
advertised Coldwater events are held there.) Second, industrial
manufacturers such as Asama Coldwater Manufacturing and Camoplast. A
lot of Coldwater's newer industries
have chosen the Burnside Area with its Interstate hub instead of the
traditional industrial park in the south part of town by the railroad.
(Walmart made the same choice when locating a gigantic new distribution
center in Coldwater, though it is actually 2 miles north of the
Burnside Area at the next
intersate Interchange so as not to distrupt the hometown character of
Coldwater.) All in all, the Burnside corridor is ideal for quiet but
sustained development in Coldwater's long term future.
